About

Loris Assis

Statement

I paint to slow the room down. Each surface is built up and pulled back over weeks until the painting becomes an object — until the weight of the material carries as much meaning as the image. The work is for tall walls, for natural light, for homes that already know what they want to feel like.

Biography

Loris Assis was born and trained in Goiânia, Brazil, and now works from her studio in Orlando, Florida. Her practice centers on large-format textured oil painting on Belgian linen — surfaces built up and pulled back over weeks until the material itself carries the meaning.

Her work is held in private collections across Brazil and is now being introduced to collectors, architects, and interior designers in Central Florida. She works in a sustained studio period, returning to a few subjects across a series, releasing paintings only when they are finished.

Art was present from the beginning — a mother who painted, a father who sketched the spaces of their home. After years in advertising and communications, she returned fully to the work, deepening her study of material and technique. What began as a private practice became a body of work collected in Brazil and now finding its place in the United States.
